In Their Own Words

Our son, Michael, started at FEAR KNOT 3 months ago. It was something my husband and I felt would be a good thing for him with the problems he was having in school and at home. About 1 1/2 months into the program we noticed a difference in Michael as did his family, friends and his teachers. His teacher says he sits longer with more focus and a better attention span. His handwriting is also better. But most of all, Michael really enjoys it. He isn't one to really want to stick to anything but he asks all the time if he can go to FEAR KNOT. I would highly recommend this program to any child. It is really nice to see your child enjoy something that also benefits him and all that is around him.
Brook - Lancaster (Little Ninja)

I cannot say enough about the positive role martial arts has had in my son's life. When we first became involved in karate, my son was only 7 years old and, like many boys his age, we were looking for help with self-control, discipline, balance and coordination. My son began his training at FEAR KNOT Martial Arts when he was 9 after moving from Connecticut. He still struggled with balance and coordination problems and his flexibility and endurance were poor. My husband and I were so pleased to see many improvements in all areas. In a relatively short period of time, all these issues were resolved and his level of physical fitness became excellent.

A few months before his 12th birthday, my son earned his blackbelt. This achievement has filled him with pride and a sense of accomplishment. Now a teenager, I am so proud of the young man he has become - one who is a good citizen, has a healthy self esteem, practices leadership and discipline, and understands how setting and achieving goals leads to success. I credit the training in martial arts that he receives from FEAR KNOT as playing a significant role in who he is becoming as a person. For my husband and me, it is a challenge and an investment that is priceless, and one that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who wants to see the sons or daughters succeed in life.
Tracey - Elizabethtown (Youth Self Defense)

We have been extremely pleased with the growth of our son in confidence to play with older and bigger kids. We've seen him smile more since beginning classes as well as an improvement in his coordination. He has become very disciplined in household chores such as cleaning his room and picking up after himself. He's also setting the table for lunch (pretty good for a 4 year old). Unfortunately for dad, the increase in speed and agility has made it more difficult to catch him when playing tag, football or soccer. Thank you for your hospitality to the students and their families.
Sean - Lancaster (Little Ninjas)
We’ve had a great experience at FEAR KNOT! The instructors are all wonderful! Everyone is very sweet and caring - and patient. My kids are having a great time getting fit, gaining confidence and developing great life skills! My husband and I have started as well and are thoroughly enjoying ourselves! Its great to learn as a couple. Its a great family activity!
Betsy - Lancaster (Six family members participating in our Pre-Ninjas through Adult programs)
Wanting to find something else for my daughter to do other than watching TV or playing video games, I enrolled her at FEAR KNOT. Since then, she has improved both at school and at home. She shows more respect for others and herself. There's also been an increase in her patience and self restraint. She also is better at getting her homework completed. Best of all, the kids learn so much without realizing they're learning. They think they're playing games!
Linda - Middletown (Little Ninjas)
Skilled team sports are a waste of time for a 5 year old. Gaining discipline, physical confidence and good behavior (posture, listening and sitting quietly) as they are taught in class will only be an advantage later in life. The measured accomplishment by using skill stickers and new belts allows Ryan to proudly display his progress. I’m glad he hasn’t always passed each class as accepting less than success in a positive way is one of life’s most difficult lessons. We also like the additional life/morality lessons at the end of each class.
Chris - Lancaster (Little Ninjas)
Since joining FEAR KNOT when she was 4 years old, my daughter has shown improved discipline, memory and focus. She also has so much more respect than before. The instructors show a great amount of care for the students while also expecting a lot out of them. My daughter loves what she's doing and how it challenges her. Her goal is to earn her blackbelt. I highly recommend FEAR KNOT to others.
Susan - Middletown (Karate Kidz)
Sarah has always been very quiet and reserved – Definitely not a risk taker. I was looking for something to help her out of that “shell”. The classes and instructors at FEAR KNOT have definitely helped boost her confidence. Although she’s still quiet, she’s starting to make new friends and take risks. She truly loves her classes and never wants to miss them. FEAR KNOT does a great job of recognizing individual needs and differences. They help each child grow in the areas that they need help in the most. They genuinely seem to care about each individual child.
Nadine - Lancaster (Karate Kidz)
The past two years at FEAR KNOT have provided for my son a real improvement in his formerly poor physical coordination. His self-discipline is also significantly better. He has more control of himself physically and mentally. When he slacks off in some area in life I always ask him "is this how you behave at FEAR KNOT?" FEAR KNOT has given him a securely anchored, disciplined area of his life. I use that to extend self-control into other parts of his life. It's working. By the way, he's also had fun and made friends.

The benefits of FEAR KNOT did not come easy. My son has worked hard and I had to push him through a slump when he wanted to quit. He triumphed over that problem about six belts ago and is doing better than ever. I'm very pleased that this program was available right there in my town and we're definitely continuing on.
Floyd - Elizabethtown (Karate Kidz)

The kids have all had a good awareness of what they need to accomplish and what to do to meet their goals. They also seem to respect the differences in abilities. I think that they have become more respectful to others. The staff is great with the children. They have "fun" but expect a lot as well. I especially like that they command respect. I like the fact that they tie "real life" examples of how the children can use the concepts taught in class - good life lessons.
Kristin - Lancaster (Karate Kidz)

I was originally against my son learning karate because he was having issues with violence and I didn't want him to get better at being violent. But quite the opposite has happened. He is less defensive and doesn't look for enemies around every corner like he used to. He feels better about himself with every success he has in karate. And he doesn't feel like a failure anymore like he did when he couldn't succeed at other sports and activities. I really like all of the instructors. They are firm but understanding and inject some humor to make it fun.
Denise - Lancaster (Karate Kidz)

I think that the program has had a good influence over my daughter and helped her in making the transition to her K-4 class. She has learned how to wait her turn in line, work together with other kids and follow a teacher's instruction. I am also glad to see her, already at age 4, taking pride in herself and striving to do the best she can at her class. I can also see her developing a real interest in exercise. She loves it! I appreciate the kindness and patience that is given to her by the instructors. They have all been great!
Jessica - Lancaster (Little Ninjas)
My son was very shy when he started the Program. Since then, he has gained the confidence to know how to handle situations and do new things. He is more focused on keeping in shape and is very respectful. Your program makes my job as a parent easier.
Karin - Middletown (Little Ninjas)
My son has enjoyed the interaction with the other children in the class. It has improved his social skills in a group setting and has definitely increased his self-esteem.
Michelle - Lancaster (Karate Kidz)
